 Michael Guinn  is an East Texas native who holds a masters degree in social work and has dedicated his life’s work to improving the lives of others suffering from child abuse and mental health issues. 

He used poetry and spokenword to help him heal from childhood trauma and that gift soon blossomed into powerful testimony. And the rest is history. He has since been twice nominated for Texas Poet Laureate, is a 2 Time National Poetry Slam Finalist, Toronto International Poetry Slam Champion, and is a multi published author and poet.

 He has recently been nominated for two national spokenword awards and is also a Irma P Hall Black Theatre Award winning actor who is currently featured on numerous independent films and commercials. This man has more than 25 years of coordinating and hosting upscale open mics and national level spokenword showcases. 

Currently he hosts 7 ongoing open mics and because of his boundless energy and dedication to the arts, he is nationally known as THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN POETRY”. Not only does he build platforms that boost black businesses but also uses these safe spaces to promote social awareness, community, culture and tackles tough topics creative self expression.
